Mompiche is a small village with a 7Km beach north of Ecuador. Known for surfers and bohemian life.
Mompiche is well know as one of the cheapest beaches in Ecaudor for travelers with hostels from $ 6, camping from $ 2. The town is very small with about 500 inhabitants.
Surfing is well known in Mompiche with classes for $25 and board rent for $15 all day. The best waves from December to May.
On the beach you will find black sand with food and drinks served in the comfort of a hammock.
From Mompiche you can visit the island of Portete through a tuck tuck (10min, $ 1, 3 passengers minimum)
BY BUS:
The only route that connects directly to Mompiche is from Esmeraldas to Mompiche ($ 4.75, 3 hours, 110Km, hourly)
From Mompiche to Portete (tuck tuck $ 1 per person)
From Pedernales to Mompiche there is no direct bus, however it is possible to take a bus from Pedernales to Chamanga and then another bus to Esmeraldas. Then stay at the entrance to Mompiche and take a taxi or tuck tuck.
From Quito to Mompiche there is no direct route but you can go from Quito to Esmeraldas ($ 10, 6 hours) and then take the bus to Mompiche.
From Guayaquil to Mompiche there is no direct route you have to make the route Guayaquil - Manta - Bahia - Pedernales - Chamanga - Mompiche.
